Two car bomb explosions in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu have left at least 100 dead and some 300 wounded, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said on Sunday.
The previous balance pointed to 30 dead and 35 wounded.
The attack, which took place on Saturday in a city frequently attacked by the extremist group Al-Shabab, was not claimed.
The blasts came on the day the president, prime minister and other political leaders were meeting to discuss combating violent extremism.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre expressed the Government’s determination to fight Al-Shabab.
The new attack took place at the Zobe crossing, the scene of another attack by the extremist group in 2017, in which more than 500 people were killed.
