Lula da Silva won the Brazilian elections, becoming the newly elected president of the country, and the first words were of gratitude to “each one of the campaign companions”, but he did not forget God.
“All my life I always thought that God was always very generous with me to allow me to get to where I am,” says Lula.
But after the thanks, came the electoral victory speech, after the ordeal he went through during Operation Lava Jato, for which he was imprisoned for 580 days. Lula da Silva considers himself “a citizen who has undergone a process of resurrection in Brazilian politics.”
“They tried to bury me alive and I am here to govern this country in a very difficult situation, but I have faith in God that with the help of the people we will find a way out so that this country can live democratically again. and we can restore peace”, says the newly elected president of Brazil.
For Lula da Silva, the victory was not over “a candidate” but over “the Brazilian state machine, put at the service of the candidate to prevent him from winning the elections.”
“We have come to the end of one of the most important elections in our history, a face-to-face meeting between two opposing projects and that today has a single and great winner: the Brazilian people,” he reflects.
Lula da Silva believes that the Brazilian people want “democracy, social inclusion, respect and understanding among Brazilians, freedom, equality, fraternity.”
“The Brazilian people want to live well, they want to eat well, live well, work, fair wages, health, education, quality public policies, religious freedom, books instead of weapons, access to all cultural goods, they want to have back the hope. This is how I understand democracy, as something palpable that we feel on our skin”, she maintains.
“Brazil needs peace and unity, the people no longer want to fight, the people are tired of seeing the enemy in the other. It is time to lay down our arms”, exclaimed Lula.
Although he lost to Bolsonaro four years ago and has now failed in the São Paulo gubernatorial elections, Lula da Silva leaves special thanks to Fernando Haddad, who “made an extraordinary campaign.”
