The newly elected president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, presents the environmental cause and the protection of the Amazon as priorities for his third term.
Once again elected by the Workers’ Party, he presents a Brazil “ready to join the fight against the climate crisis”. Lula da Silva guarantees that Brazil will fight for “zero deforestation in the Amazon,” because “Brazil and the planet need a living Amazon.”
“We are going to resume surveillance of the Amazon and combat all illegal activity,” the candidate for president-elect guarantees.
“We are going to recover the country’s credibility and stability so that investors can regain confidence in Brazil. We want fairer international trade and resume alliances with the US and the EU. We are going to reindustrialize Brazil, invest in the green and digital economy, we want to export intelligence and knowledge”, says Lula da Silva.
“We are not interested in a war for the environment, but we are ready to defend it from any threat,” he says.
Citing Pope Francis, who urged the Brazilian people to “be free from hate,” Lula da Silva says he wants the same and will “work tirelessly” to fulfill that goal.
“Every day of my life I remember the greatest teaching of Jesus Christ, which is love of neighbor. The greatest virtue of a ruler is love for his country and his people. There will be no lack of love for this country. time, peace, love and hope. That is why I invite all Brazilians: let’s go together for Brazil, looking more at what unites us than at our differences,” asks Lula da Silva, again thanking the Brazilian people.
“Our fight does not begin or end with the elections, our fight for the conquest of a just country will be a fight until the end of our lives. I made up my mind: Brazil is my cause, the people are my cause, to fight misery is the reason I will live until the end of my life”, he concludes.
