The president of Mozambique greeted “brother Lula” on Monday for his victory in the elections for the presidency of Brazil and said that it was an achievement made with “courage”.
“It was a victory won by perseverance, humility, faith in justice and, above all, it was a victory of the courage of the Brazilian people to face the future with itself, towards a stronger and fairer country,” Filipe wrote. Nyusi on the official Facebook page.
The statesman said that “Mozambique has always shared with Brazil the most outstanding moments of its history and vice versa, as brothers who share a path whose destiny guides them towards well-being and justice.”
The congratulations “from the Mozambican people to the Brazilian people”, are given at the beginning of a “new path of hope opened by your election towards a new era of cooperation and strengthening of our brotherhood”.
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected president of Brazil, with 50.9%, defeating Jair Bolsonaro, who obtained 49.1%, after counting all the votes, according to the TSE.
The 77-year-old candidate of the Workers’ Party (left) obtained more than 60.3 million votes (50.9% of the total), with an advantage of more than 2.1 million over Bolsonaro (far right), who obtained 58 .2 million (49.1%) in the presidential elections on Sunday, indicated the TSE website.
Lula da Silva, who has already served two terms between 2003 and 2011, is now returning to the Planalto Palace. The inauguration is scheduled for January 1, 2023.
The former trade unionist will have as vice president Geraldo Alckmin, of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB), who had already been his opponent in the 2006 presidential elections, then for the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB).
