Ukrainian tiger sighted in eastern Slovakia. Originally housed in a zoo in eastern Ukraine, the animal was moved due to the war in the west of the country, from where it escaped, reports euro news. The cat was photographed in three different cities on Sunday.
Claims of the Polony National Park on Facebook that “the movement of a young tiger was recorded on camera trap photos” and seen in the municipalities of Brezovec, Klenová and Ulič.
Neighbors urged to be cautious
The authorities of the country then invited the inhabitants to exercise the greatest prudence and not to approach the feline if they crossed their path. The city of Ulič has even asked its residents to limit their travel outdoors.
Slovakia’s Environment Ministry said on Monday it had not heard of the animal’s presence in the country, but was ready “to capture it immediately” if necessary.
