North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile on Thursday morning (shortly before midnight on Wednesday in Paris) into the Sea of Japan, east of the peninsula, the South Korean military told the Yonhap news agency. Information publicly confirmed by the Japanese Prime Minister’s office.
According to this source, the missile flew over Japan at around 7:48 am (11:48 pm on Wednesday in Paris). About 50 minutes later, the Yonhap news agency, citing the Japanese Defense Ministry, said the North Korean missile “had fallen back into the Pacific Ocean.”
Japanese television has issued several warning messages, asking residents to take shelter, we could see on the NHK channel, broadcast by the US embassy in Tokyo.
Several releases in the last few days
On Wednesday, Pyongyang sent several missiles into the East Sea, including one that landed near South Korea’s territorial waters. An operation condemned by Paris “with the greatest firmness”, but also by Seoul, which denounced a “territorial invasion”
On Tuesday, North Korea sharply criticized the announcement of joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington this week. “A provocation”, according to Pyongyang, that “can no longer be tolerated”, a North Korean official had declared.
For several months, Pyongyang has regularly warned Seoul and Washington. A few weeks ago, a North Korean ballistic missile had already flown over Japan.
