Presidential in Brazil: Jair Bolsonaro asks his followers to “unblock the roads”

Defeated in the second round of Brazil’s presidential elections, Jair Bolsonaro called on his supporters on Wednesday to “unblock the roads”, while supporting “legitimate demonstrations”.

In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, Jair Bolsonaro called on protesters to “unblock the streets,” three days after the announcement of his defeat to Lula in the second round of Brazil’s presidential election.

Since the announcement of the official results (50.9% for the leftist candidate, 49.1% for the current far-right president), many supporters of Jair Bolsonaro have protested, refusing to admit defeat. On Tuesday, the federal traffic police reported 250 total or partial roadblocks in at least 23 of Brazil’s 27 states.

“Protest Another Way”

Other demonstrations that take place throughout Brazil, in other places, are part of the democratic game, they are welcome”, he added, however. “Protest in another way, in other places, it’s very good.”

“I am with you and I am sure that you are with me. My request refers to the roads. We are going to unblock them for the good of our nation,” the head of state also declared, hit by a short header by the left-wing candidate Luiz Inacio Lula. Da Silva

Thousands of Bolsonaristas gathered this Wednesday in front of the military command posts to demand the intervention of the army after the defeat of their leader against former President Lula (2003-2010).

These demonstrations took place the day after Jair Bolsonaro gave permission to make the transition to Lula’s team, without however mentioning his defeat or congratulating his opponent.
