Ukraine and Russia blamed each other for Sunday’s bombing of the eastern city of Energodar, near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which left most of the Ukrainian city without electricity.
So far there is no information that there were casualties in the attack.
Energodar Mayor Dimitro Orlov accused Russia of using these bombings of a city originally occupied by Moscow troops to “discredit Ukraine’s armed forces”.according to a post on his Telegram account on the social network.
“As a result of the bombing of the industrial zone, most of the city was without electricity. Before that, they hit one of the substations,” Orlov said.
According to the mayor, “information is still being determined about the extent of the damage and the restoration of the energy supply”. Moscow has not yet commented on this incident.
Soon after, Russian official in the city, Alexander Volga, attributed the incident to Ukrainian troops: “Today they carried out an attack on the vital infrastructure and electrical installations of Energodar.”said on his Telegram account.
“Emergency teams are already at work. Electricity supply in the city will be restored soon. The situation is under control,” he added.
