A leak that worries the other side of the Atlantic. On Sunday, October 20, during an interview with CNN, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to shed light on the unauthorized publication of classified documents in recent days.
According to CBS News, several classified documents assessing Israel’s plans to attack Iran following the ballistic attack on Tehran on October 1 were published online Thursday night via the Middle East Spectator Telegram channel.
Attributed to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency, they detail how Israel moves its military assets to carry out an attack against Iran.
According to CBS News, the ongoing investigation must determine whether the publication of these documents was the work of an intentional leak by a member of the US intelligence community, or if the origin was a computer hack.
On Telegram, Middle East Spectator, which identifies itself as based in Tehran, indicated that this data comes from an “informed source within the US intelligence community”, although this has not been proven.
For their part, neither the US Pentagon nor the Israeli army reacted to these accusations of a possible attack against Iran.
