The Lebanese Hezbollah claimed to have fired a salvo of rockets this Wednesday, October 23, towards an Israeli military intelligence base near Tel Aviv, “in response to the enemy’s massacres.”
This Glilot base has already been attacked several times by Hezbollah. The Israeli air force, for its part, carried out a series of nighttime attacks in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of the pro-Iran group.
Response to Israeli attacks
On Day X, the Israeli military confirmed that several sirens sounded asking residents to take refuge in northern and central Israel. On Telegram, he also indicated that two rockets from Lebanon had been intercepted.
This Wednesday morning, the Israeli army asked residents of the neighborhoods of Tire (“Sour” in Arabic) to evacuate before the launch of a military operation against Hezbollah. “They must immediately leave the area,” army spokesman Avichay Adraee announced on X.
“Anyone who is close to members of Hezbollah, its facilities and its combat assets puts their lives in danger,” he warned.
Several Lebanese from Tyre, a large city located in southern Lebanon, have since fled the metropolis that currently has 14,500 inhabitants. Since September, Israel has increased bombing in Lebanon, a stronghold of Hezbollah and an ally of Palestinian Hamas.
To date, at least 1,552 people have been killed in Lebanon since the first massive Israeli attacks on September 23, according to an AFP tally based on official data.
