Israel’s response in Iran: France asks “the parties to refrain from any escalation”

The Quai d’Orsay emphasizes that a possible escalation could “further aggravate the context of extreme tension that prevails in the region.”

An expected reaction. On Saturday, October 26, at mid-morning, a few hours after the end of Israel’s attack on Iranian military infrastructure that left two dead, the Quai d’Orsay “urgently called on the parties to refrain from any escalation and any action that “may aggravate the context of the extreme tension that prevails in the region.”

“France has taken note of Israel’s announcement to attack military targets in Iran tonight, in response to the aggression of October 1,” the press service of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs also wrote.

“Self-defense”

France is not the first Western country to react to recent events. Previously, the United States affirmed Israel’s right to “self-defense.”

“We urge Iran to cease its attacks against Israel so that this cycle of fighting can end without further escalation,” also declared the spokesman for the National Security Council of the US executive, Sean Savett.

For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared that “Iran must not respond” to Israeli attacks on military targets, during a press conference at the Commonwealth summit in Apia, Samoa.

“It is clear that Israel has the right to defend itself from Iranian aggression, and it is equally clear that we must avoid further regional escalation, and I urge all parties to exercise restraint,” he said.
