The terrible images coming from Valencia and broadcast this Wednesday, October 30, aroused the emotion of the French. And rightly so, many Spaniards lost everything in this meteorological episode: homes devastated by torrential rains, cars swept away by floods and the disappearance of loved ones.
In response, the Secours populaire français launches an appeal for donation “throughout France.” Questioned by our colleagues from France Bleu, the national secretary of French Popular Aid, Jean Stellittano, confirms the desolation on the ground.
“Behind every missing person, every dead person, there are families, wounded friends,” he confided to the microphone of France Bleu Azur this Wednesday, October 30, underlining the importance of European solidarity.
The Secours Populaire has also specified priority needs, the first of which is clothing and, above all, “materials for drying” homes. Jean Stellittano also points out that the winter period further weakens the affected populations, who need to find shelter and warmth.
“We will also have to provide this help: equipment so that people can return to their homes as soon as possible, which, for some, will be impossible at first,” adds the secretary of the association in France Bleu. “But a call for donations is now essential, especially financial, because in Spain we have the possibility of obtaining supplies,” he concludes.
