Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this Thursday, November 21, that his country does not rule out attacking countries that supply weapons used by Ukraine against Russian territory.
“We consider ourselves within our rights to use our weapons against the military installations of countries that allow the use of their weapons against our installations,” the Russian leader said.
“And in the event of an escalation of aggressive actions, we will respond with the same force,” he continued, in a surprise address to the nation.
Russia is “ready” for all scenarios
The Russian leader also estimated that the conflict, which has lasted more than 1,000 days, has acquired a “global character” with Western missile attacks.
This statement comes a few days after Washington gave the green light to kyiv’s use of long-range US missiles on Russian soil. Ukrainian forces then attacked Russia on its territory with American ATACMS missiles and British Storm Shadow missiles. Vladimir Putin stated that “Ukrainian fire against Russia with Western missiles has failed.”
In what constitutes “a response to US plans to produce and deploy medium- and short-range missiles,” Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian army attacked Ukraine with a new medium-range ballistic missile, called “Orechnik.” Earlier in the day, kyiv accused Russia of firing an intercontinental missile, the first in the conflict.
In this intervention, which lasted less than ten minutes, the Kremlin tenant added that Russia is “prepared” for all scenarios of the conflict with the West and Ukraine.
