The Kremlin stated this Friday, November 22, that it was sure that the United States had “understood” Vladimir Putin’s message in his speech the day before, vindicating the firing against Ukraine of a new missile designed to carry a nuclear warhead, called Orechnik and threatening the West.
“Yesterday’s speech was very, very complete, clear and logical,” insisted the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitri Peskov, during his daily press conference.
“Therefore, we have no doubt that the current administration in Washington has had the opportunity to familiarize itself with this statement and understand it,” Dmitri Peskov said on Friday, a day after this day of high tensions.
Threats to the West
In this surprise speech broadcast on Russian television, Vladimir Putin estimated that the conflict in Ukraine has now acquired a “global character,” warning Westerners that Russia is “prepared for all” scenarios.
He also said Moscow reserves the right to attack Western countries that allow Ukraine to use its weapons on Russian soil.
“The main message is that the reckless decisions and actions of Western countries, which produce missiles, supply them to Ukraine and then engage in attacks on Russian territory, cannot happen without Russia’s reaction,” Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Kyiv accused of using Western missiles.
Moscow accused kyiv of firing missiles twice this week for the first time since the start of the Western conflict at targets on Russian territory, which Russia had presented as a red line.
In response to these attacks, according to Vladimir Putin, the Russian military launched a new hypersonic ballistic missile on Thursday, called Orechnik, which hit a factory that manufactures components for missiles in Dnipro, in east-central Ukraine.
In his speech, Vladimir Putin praised a weapon that is impossible to “counter.” “Russia’s capabilities have been clearly demonstrated,” Dmitri Peskov said on Friday.
