Spain is hit again by floods. After the significant floods that affected the southeast of the country and especially the Valencian Community since October 29, Andalusia suffered floods this Monday, November 25.
The Huelva region, west of Seville, was affected by new flooding. These towns had already been affected at the beginning of November and placed on red alert by the AEMET, the Spanish meteorological agency.
“Several liters of water fell in just one hour”
According to our colleagues at Europa Press, several roads were flooded, especially in the town of Bollullos par del Condado where “several liters of water fell in just one hour,” according to the mayor of this town, Rubén Rodríguez. According to local authorities, this saturated the pipes, which “burst” in certain places, releasing a torrent of water in the area.
According to AEMET forecasts, Andalusia is expected to experience drier weather starting this Tuesday and for the rest of the week. The weather agency has not issued any flood warnings for the entire country.
The floods that hit Spain since the end of October claimed the lives of more than 220 people, the vast majority of them in the Valencia region. According to a report by a national public body, the Data Integration Center, more than 80% of the victims were over 50 years old.
