Former US President Donald Trump, who has mentioned the possibility of a new White House candidacy, promised to make “a big announcement” on Nov. 15.
“By 2024, we will reclaim our beautiful White House,” Trump said Monday night in a nearly two-hour speech at a campaign rally in the state of Midwest Ohio.
“We were a great nation and we will be a great nation again,” assured the Republican, painting an extremely bleak picture of the country under current Democratic President Joe Biden.
A country where rising prices “strangle families,” where “violent crime is spiraling out of control” and where the far left “indoctrinates our children,” Trump said.
“There is only one solution to put an end to this madness,” defended the businessman. “If you want to end the destruction of our country and save the American dream, you must vote Republican tomorrow. [hoje]”, said.
“We don’t want anything to diminish the importance of tomorrow [hoje]Trump said, referring to the midterm elections, in which Republicans are favored to win power in both houses of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
According to the “Politico” newspaper, many Republicans have asked the former president to wait for the election, which will renew the entire House of Representatives and a third of the Senate, as well as the governors of 36 states and three territories.
The weighted average of polls conducted by the website FiveThirtyEight indicates that Republicans have a 55% chance of winning power in the Senate and an 84% chance of regaining the House of Representatives.
“To make our country successful, safe and glorious, I very, very, very likely will. [concorrer à Casa de Branca] again,” the Republican mogul said at a Nov. 4 rally in support of Senator Chuck Grassley.
At that meeting, Trump reiterated his unsubstantiated claims that 2020, the year Democrat Joe Biden won the White House, was the real winner.
Three days later, in another Florida campaign move in support of Senator Marco Rubio, he re-signed that he plans to take office in 2024, without specifying the possible date.
“Stay tuned,” he said simply.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment on this potential announcement Monday.
“It’s none of our business. What the ex-president does or doesn’t do is not something we focus on here,” he said at a news conference.
