Vladimir Putin does not attend the G20 summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already decided that he will not be at the G20 summit in Indonesia this month. The country’s president, Joko Widodo, had expressed his reluctance to the presence of the Russian president and Zelensky also stated that he would not attend the summit if Putin were present, even participating remotely, by videoconference.

Putin was personally invited by Indonesian President Joko Widodo during a trip to Russia last June, when the Indonesian head of state also traveled to Ukraine in an unsuccessful attempt to mediate the armed conflict.

On Monday, the Kremlin announced that Putin will not attend the summit of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, scheduled for November 18 and 19, and the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitry Peskov, said that during this week it will be announced whether the Russian leader would participate in the G20.

The G20 is made up of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
