The Ukrainian army entered Kherson on Friday after the withdrawal of Russian forces, and the Defense Ministry has already called on enemy soldiers to “immediately surrender”.
“Kherson has returned to Ukrainian control. Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have entered the city,” the ministry said in a statement posted on Facebook.
The Ministry also urged Russian soldiers to stay put and “surrender immediately”, promising to “preserve the life and safety” of those who do so.

The withdrawal of Russian forces comes six weeks after President Vladimir Putin annexed the Kherson region and three other Ukrainian provinces, promising that these regions would remain Russian forever.
The Kremlin insists that the withdrawal is in no way a restriction on Putin’s plans and that Moscow continues to consider the entire Kherson region as part of Russia.
Today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that Russia does not regret holding festivities just over a month ago to commemorate the annexation of the occupied or partially occupied regions of Ukraine.
