Iran lashed out this Sunday at the French president’s meeting in Paris with opponents and described his statements at the end of this meeting as “regrettable and shameful”.
Emmanuel Macron had received four Iranian activists in Paris on Friday, on the sidelines of the Peace Forum, whom he had praised for the “revolution they are leading” in their country.
“This is a flagrant violation of France’s international responsibilities in the fight against terrorism and violence and we consider that it promotes these sinister phenomena,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said.

“Macron’s statements about his support for this so-called revolution led by these people are regrettable and shameful,” Nasser Kanani said.
Referring to Masih Alinejad, the Iranian spokesman added: “It is astonishing that the president of a country demanding freedom stoops to meet a hated person (…) who tried to sow hatred and carry out violent and terrorist acts in Iran and against Iran.” diplomatic missions abroad.
