A plane operated by the American Airlines airline caught on Thursday, March 13 after landing at Denver Airport in Colorado, announced the American Civil Aviation Authority (FAA).
American Airlines said the 172 passengers and the six crew members had managed to evacuate the plane. However, six passengers were transported to the hospital to perform additional exams.
American Airlines flight, which had taken off Colorado Springs and went to Dallas, Texas, confused Denver after the crew noticed vibrations at the level of an engine, said the FAA.
A “engine problem”
The videos transmitted on social networks showed passengers standing on one of the device’s wings, a Boeing 737-800, before being evacuated while the smoke escaped the engine.
American Airlines said the plane had landed safely and had reached the boarding door before complying with a “engine problem.”
FAA said an investigation would be carried out to determine the causes of the incident. A Denver airport spokesman said that the fire had extinguished and that the flights had normally resumed. Boeing refused to comment.
