Six killed when two planes collide at Dallas air show

Six people were killed when two historic military jets collided Saturday at an air show in Dallas, authorities said.

“A total of six people died in Saturday’s crash at the ‘Wings over Dallas’ air show, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner,” Dallas County Judge Clay wrote on Twitter today. Jenkins, adding that authorities are continuing to identify the victims.

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra collided and crashed at approximately 1:20 p.m. local time, according to a Federal Aviation Administration statement quoted by the Associated Press (AP).

Several videos on social media showed the moment of the collision.

In 2011, 11 people were killed in Reno, Nevada, when a P-51 Mustang crashed into onlookers. In 2019, a bomber crashed in Hartford, Connecticut, killing seven people.

Since 1982, authorities have investigated more than 20 accidents involving World War II bombers, resulting in 23 deaths, according to the AP.
