kyiv calls for immediate access to the site in Poland where the missile landed

Ukraine on Wednesday requested “immediate access” to the site in Poland where a missile landed on Tuesday, which Warsaw and NATO consider “highly likely” to be a Ukrainian anti-aircraft projectile.

“Ukraine requests immediate access, for the representatives of the Border Guard and Defense, to the affected place,” wrote, on the social network Twitter, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, who said he wanted ” a joint review of the incident”.

“We are ready to hand over the proof of the Russian trace that we have,” he said, after Moscow formally denied responsibility for this launch.

The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine added that kyiv “is waiting for information from partners, who concluded that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile.”

Polish President Andrzej Duda said he considers it “highly probable” that the missile that killed two people on Tuesday in a Polish town near the Ukrainian border was used by Ukrainian air defense.

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, also declared on Wednesday that the explosion in Poland “was probably caused” by a Ukrainian missile, but added that “it is not Ukraine’s fault.”

The war in Ukraine has lasted since February 24 this year, when Russia invaded Ukrainian territory and launched attacks on the neighboring country.

The conflict plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).
