They did not survive. A Frenchman and his granddaughter died in the accident of his vehicle, who fell into a channel in Bruges, Belgium, where they were on vacation, reports the NHL of the Belgian media this Saturday, April 19, citing the prosecution of Western Flandes.
On Friday, the 73 -year -old grandfather drives his vehicle with his 10 -year -old granddaughter and his 13 -year -old grandson. But around 1:40 pm, the car falls into a channel on the Warande bridge.
The young teenager manages to leave the vehicle and leave him safe. However, the septuagenarian and the girl must be treated by emergency services and the car came out of the water with a crane.
Found in critical condition, the two injured are transported to the hospital. But grandfather died Friday night, then his granddaughter died the next day.
The barrier was reduced, according to the first elements.
According to the NHL media, the French family was on vacation in Belgium and visited the city of witches with two vehicles: one with the grandfather and two of her grandchildren and the other with the mother and grandmother. The last vehicle had just crossed the bridge when the accident arrived.
“The first observations showed that the Warande bridge was open. The barrier was reduced, but the driver would have continued driving,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident, according to the Belgian media. An investigation was opened to try to understand what happened. According to the regions of France 3, the family came from the Paris region.
