United States: the Minister of Defense involved to another security defect on a strike in Yemen

Involved to detail an American bombing in Yemen in a signal conversation in which he was a journalist, Pete Hegseth would also have shared military information with his wife, brother and lawyer.

The American Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, involved in a security defect last month, also shared information about a strike in Yemen in another group of signals, several US media reported this Sunday, April 20.

Pete Hegesh, a former Fox News channel presenter, is the subject of an internal investigation of the Pentagon after having shared confidential information about signal messaging on March 15, in a conversation in which a journalist, apparently invited by mistake, participated.

Precise flight schedules

According to the New York Times and the CNN channel, Pete Hegesh also participated the same day in a conversation in another group of signals, that his wife, his brother, his lawyer, “as well as a dozen people, helped their personal and professional entourage.”

The Big New York Daily, which cites “four people aware of this conversation”, specifies that the Minister of Defense transmitted on this occasion the precise schedules of the flights of the devices that would reach the rebel objectives of Houthi in Yemen “, essentially the same attack plans as those that had shared the same day in another signal group.”

The newspaper specifies that the minister’s wife, a journalist and also former Fox News employee, is not employed by the Pentagon, while Pete Hegseth’s lawyer occupy positions.

“But we do not see why one or the other would have needed to be aware of the imminent strikes against the hutis in Yemen,” writes the NYT.

“A month of total chaos in the Pentagon”

According to The Daily, Pentagon officials warned the Minister a few days before he should not discuss information about the Yemen signal, the encrypted messages but considered less safe than the official channels that are generally used for confidential data.

In reaction to this information, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell accused New York Times of being a “media that hates Trump.” “There has been no information classified in signal discussions, be the ways in which they are trying to write the story,” he said, without providing more details.

This Sunday, also on Sunday, the former spokesman for Pete Heghseth in the Pentagon, John Ullyot, published an article in Vitriol describing “a month of total chaos in the Pentagon.”

“President Donald Trump is used to asking his senior officials to tell. Given this, it is difficult to see that defense secretary Pete Hegseth remain in his role for a long time,” wrote John Ullyot.

Democrats denounce “inconsiderate contempt”

The democratic opposition reacted quickly. Jack Reed, a member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee, asked the Pentagon Inspector General to include the latest accusations in his investigation.

“If this incident is proven, it is a new disturbing example of the inconsiderate contempt of Secretary Hegseth by the laws and protocols that all other members of the Army must respect,” he said in a statement.

During the first “Signalgate”, President Donald Trump defended his ministers involved in the conversation with the journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, of Atlantic magazine. Mike Waltz, his national security advisor, had assumed the “responsibility” by explaining that the group had created.

According to the NYT, the other group was created by Pete Hegseth in person before assuming office as a minister. Three senior Pentagon officials were also fired last week after unreotified leaks.

Interested officials: the deputy director of Cabinet Darin Selnick and the advisors Dan Caldwell and Colin Carroll, responded this Sunday by publishing a statement in which they accuse the Ministry of having “s defamed from without a foundation.”

“At this time, they have not yet told us why we are the subject of an investigation, if an investigation is being carried out and if there has been research on leaks,” they wrote on social networks.
