The former US NBA player of the Knicks of New York Dick Barnett, twice champion and member of the “Hall of Fame” of the North American League, died at the age of 88, announced his former team on Sunday, April 27.
Richard Barnett, his first official name, a successful university basketball player that the Los Angeles Lakers player had played nine seasons with the Knicks and won two titles in 1970 and 1973, the only ones in the history of the popular New York franchise.

“Barnett perfectly embodied the spirit of the Knicks of New York, inside and outside the parquet floors,” the team wrote in a statement about the player from which he has already eliminated the shirt.
The rear at 15,358 points of the NBA had been included in the “Hall of Fame” in October 2024.
After his career, he had obtained a doctorate and taught sports administration at St. John in New York.
