An 18 -year -old stabbed three people in a high school in the center of South Korea and injured two more slightly more, police reported Monday, April 28, April 28.
Police on Monday morning was informed that “a student had stabbed someone in a classroom with a knife,” said Chungbuk province police.
The attack occurred around 8:36 am local (11:36 PM GMT) in the city of Cheongju, 110 kilometers south of the capital Seoul.
Three people were seriously injured, especially the director of the establishment, which was stabbed in the abdomen. Police said that two other people were slightly injured, including a strangled woman.
The motifs of the aggressor are still unknown
The defendant, slightly injured, was arrested 12 minutes after informing. He tried to flee to a neighboring park, where he jumped to a lake, before being arrested and then transported to the hospital.
“We are trying to determine the details and mobile devices” of this attack, a local police officer told the AFP.
This issue occurs only a few months after a teacher fatally stabbed an eight -year -old girl in a primary school.
South Korea is a country generally considered very safe, with a homicide rate of 1.3 percent inhabitants in 2021, according to official statistics, which is lower than the world average of six deaths per homicide per 100,000 inhabitants.
