The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, urged on Tuesday, April 29 to “a gift” from any territory to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to end the war, while the recognition of regions occupied by Moscow seems to be foreseen by Washington.
“We all want this war to end fairly, without a gift for Putin, and especially not for earth,” said Vlodimir Zelensky on a regional summit.
Russia partially occupies four regions of the south and east of Ukraine, whose annexation affirmed in 2022: those of Donetsk, Lougansk, Zaporijia and Kherson.
In 2014, he also attached the Ukrainian Crimean Peninsula after an intervention of his special forces and a referendum denounced by Kyiv and the Westerners.
Trump plans to recognize Crimea as Russian
The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, insisted on Monday that the international recognition of these annexations is an “imperative” condition for the end of the invasion of Ukraine, launched in 2022.
The administration of Donald Trump, who wants to end the war as quickly as possible, plans to recognize Crimea as Russian and even press Ukraine to renounce it, according to the media.
Volodymyr Zelensky has insisted on several recoveries in recent days that such eventuality would be unacceptable for kyiv.
Donald Trump estimated on Sunday that the position of the Ukrainian leader on this issue could change.
Zelensky offers a 30 -day fire high
In his daily speech on Tuesday, Vlodimir Zelensky also called Russia again to accept a high unconditional and global fire “30 days.”
Vladimir Putin ordered his soldiers to silence the weapons from May 8 to 10, during the commemorations of the victory over Nazi Germany, while a large military parade must take place on May 9 in the Red Square in Moscow.
The Russians “care that their parade will be threatened, and are right to worry. But they should worry about the continuation of the war,” Vlodimir Zelensky warned Tuesday.
The Ukrainian leader also said that kyiv “was preparing to discuss new measures of sanctions with the United States” to Moscow.
