Piracy of the Emmanuel Macron campaign in 2017: Russia denounces “unfounded accusations”

The Russian embassy in France considers that the French authorities have no “evidence of the guilt” of Russia in the cyber attacks that were attributed to him by the French Foreign Minister.

The Russian Embassy in France denounced this Wednesday, April 30, “unfounded accusations” on Wednesday, April 30, the day after the statements attributed by cyber attacks to Moscow against French interests, including the hacker piracy of the Emmanuel Macron campaign team in 2017.

“We are protesting against this new attempt to launch a series of unfounded, repeated repeated accusations, according to which the Russian party would have something to do,” with this case, said the Russian embassy in a statement.

According to her, the French authorities “have no evidence of the guilt of the Russian party in the cyber attacks attributed to him.”

“Megaphone Diplomacy”

The Embassy also regretted what he described as “diplomacy of the megaphone” of the quai d’Orsay, which, according to him, only “causes Russophobia in French society and justifies the anti -local aggressive policy led by the current French authorities.”

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot accused Russia for the first time for having attacked cyber attacks a dozen French entities between 2021 and 2024.

He also accused Moscow of having pirate and transmitted thousands of internal documents of the entourage of the future President Emmanuel Macron, just before the second round of the 2017 presidential elections, or having sabotaged the TV5monde television channel in 2015.
