Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, said on Sunday, May 4 that “he did not believe” that Russia would respect a three -day truce during the celebrations of Victory Day, in Nazi – Moscow Germany.
“This is not the first challenge, nor the first promises made by Russia of Alto El Fuego … we know who we are dealing with, we do not believe them,” Volodymyr Zelensky said at a joint press conference with President Czech Peta Peta Pavel, during a trip to Prague.
Vladimir Putin proposed a three -day truce that coincides with the Russian commemorations of May 9 to, according to him, to prove the kyiv agreement to make peace.
“There is no trust”
Vladimir Putin had already decreed a high fire during the weekend of Pascal in April, which had led to a fall in the fight without being fully respected by the two fields. In March, Moscow rejected the unconditional fire of 30 days offered by Kyiv and Washington.
“Today and during these last days, they are talking about wanting a type of high partial fire, but it must know, for example, that the number of assaults today is the highest in recent months,” said Volodymyr Zelensky, citing a military report that reports more than 200 attacks on Saturday.
“Then there is no trust” in them, added the Ukrainian president.
Peta Pavel, former NATO general, said he was paying attention to those who are ready to respect the fire, not those who are happy to talk about it.
“Putin can end the war with a simple decision, but so far he has not demonstrated the will,” added the Czech president.
Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Prague on Sunday for a two -day visit, accompanied by his wife. The Czech Republic, a member of the European Union and NATO, has provided Ukraine a substantial humanitarian and military support from the invasion of this country by Russia in February 2022. He thanked more than half a million refugees and provided the Ukrainian army of equipment such as tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters.
Prague also coordinates a European initiative aimed at providing artillery ammunition to Ukraine, largely funded by NATO allies, which Volodymyr Zelensky described as “excellent” during the press conference.
This initiative aims to partially compensate for the fact that the EU did not have its promise to provide a million projectiles to Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement that discussions with Prague focused on the creation of a Ukraino-Techero school training school for US F-16 planes, which could not be established in Ukraine “due to current security problems.”
He also announced a meeting on Monday with “Czech defense companies”, whose details will be announced later.
