Algeria has issued two mandates of the international departments against the writer Franco-Algerio Kamel Daud

France was informed of the program, by the Algerian Justice, “of two mandates of international stops” against the writer Franco-Algerio Kamel Daoud, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of France announced Wednesday.

France was informed of the program, by the Algerian Justice, “of two mandates of the international stops” against the writer Franco-Algerio Kamel Daoud, announced the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Affairs on Wednesday, May 7.

“We continue and continue the evolution of this situation carefully,” added Christophe Lemoine, emphasizing that Kamel Daoud was “a recognized and respected author” and that France was attached to freedom of expression.

Last November, an Algerian Court had accepted a first complaint against the writer and his psychiatrist for having presented and used the history of a patient for the writing of his novel “Houris”, awarded by the Goncourt 2024 Award, the most prestigious reward in French literature.

Two remedies

Then two appeals against Kamel Daud and his wife who treated Save Arbane, a survivor of a massacre during the black decade of the Civil War in Algeria (1992-2002, 200,000 dead) were presented.

A complaint comes from Saâda Arbane, who accuses them of having used their history without their consent, and another from the National Organization of Victims of Terrorism. The question of an arrest warrant is part of the procedure of use in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure of Algeria.

“If the accused is fleeing or if he lives outside the territory of the Republic,” the investigating judge can issue an international arrest warrant, according to the law that governs this case.

Assigned to justice in France

Kamel Daud was also assigned to France for non -compliance with private life by Savea Arbane. The first procedural hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the Judicial Court of Paris on Wednesday.

Kamel Daoud had affirmed in mid -December on public radio France Inter that this story was “public” in Algeria, but also that his novel “does not tell (the) life” of Saâda Arbane. Its Gallimard editor had denounced the “violent orchestrated defamatory campaigns (against the writer) by certain media close to a regime of which no one ignores nature.”
