A “lasting peace.” After a telephone interview with the Ukrainian leader, Donald Trump called on Thursday, May 8 about an unconditional “30 -day in Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky said he was open to “all negotiation formats” with Russia. In doing so, the US president, who is impatient to finish the conflict three years after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, clearly pressured by his Russian counterpart in his counterpart of the US counterpart.
Russia as Ukraine “will have to account” and “if the high fire is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose other sanctions,” threatened the US president in his social network of truth.
He judged that a high fire should lead to “lasting peace” and promised to “remain committed” to discussions in this regard, although Washington has threatened for several weeks to disconnect due to lack of agreement.
“This high fire should lead to a peace agreement. All this can be done very quickly, and I will be available at any time if my services are required,” Donald Trump wrote in Truth Social.
The US president had just met with the Ukrainian president, who said that kyiv “was ready for a full fire from now on, now 30 days of silence.” A telephone interview that “was fine,” according to a Ukrainian official in The Guardian.
“New Chapter”
On an early Thursday, the Ukrainian Parliament ratified a mineral agreement, signed with the United States after weeks of Tormunntas negotiations and that, according to kyiv, could pave the way for the new US military aid. The Ukrainian president considered that this text has already opened a “new chapter” in the relations between kyiv and Washington.
He also said that Ukraine was “ready” to lead “all negotiation formats” with Moscow to find an exit from the conflict. “But for this to happen, Russia must demonstrate that it seriously wants to end the war, starting with a high full fire and without conditions,” the Ukrainian president continued, in a message posted on social networks.
At the same time, the US president also spoke with the new German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, who took office on Tuesday. During this telephone interview, Donald Trump assured, according to Berlin, Friedrich Merz who supported European efforts “with the end of lasting peace” in Ukraine.
When asked at the White House to find out if he could meet the Russian president in Saudi Arabia next week, Donald Trump replied: “I don’t think so, but we have very good conversations. Very, very good.”
Mutual accusations
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin welcomed his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Moscow, on the eve of May 9 celebrations for which Vladimir Putin ordered a truce in Ukraine. The two leaders once again showed their agreement against a west presented as “hegemonic.”
Despite the entry into force on the night of the truce announced by Vladimir Putin until Saturday, the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy Andriï Sybiga accused the Russian army of attacking “on the entire line of the front”, evoking hundreds of rape of high fire.
The minister promised an “appropriate” replica of the Ukrainian army to these attacks, while the Russian forces assured, “strictly respect” the truce, simply saying “respond” to Ukrainian violations. “There is no truce so far,” confirmed a spokesman for the Khartia Ukrainian Brigade, which operates in the Jharkiv (Northeast) region.
The Russian president ordered his troops on February 24, 2022 to attack Ukraine, which caused a conflict that has caused several tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians since the death of two fields. His army still occupies almost 20% of the Ukrainian territory. The efforts with a view to an end of hostilities, initiated by Donald Trump after his return to the White House, seem today at the dead point.
The Americans led several negotiation sessions, separately, with the Russians and the Ukrainians, but without having led to direct negotiations. The previous day, American vice president JD Vance had asked for direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, the only way to put an end to the conflict.
