Trucks, distribution, anger of western countries … what we know about the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza

After a food aid block for more than two months in the Gaza Strip, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister announced Sunday night that Israel would authorize the “limited” help resumption in the Palestinian enclave.

“Two million people are hungry” in Gaza. This is the observation of the World Health Organization, from the blockade of humanitarian aid established in the Palestinian enclave by the government of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, since March 2.

Only on Sunday, the Israeli leader announced that his country was going to allow the entry of a “food base for the population.” At the same time, the latter said he was going to “take control of everything” the strip of Gaza.

Waiting for the final attack against the Israeli army in the territory, several diplomatic and associative pressures have caused them to authorize a resumption of humanitarian aid in the territory.

• Several food aid trucks allow you to enter

This Monday, May 19, the UN Humanitarian Operations Chief Tom Fletcher announced the sending of the United Nations humanitarian trucks to the Gaza Strip for the 2.4 million inhabitants, after 11 weeks of blocking. Israel has said that he received five trucks. Help, which arrives as a “drop of water in the ocean”, however, deplored Tom Fletcher.

“The limited amounts now authorized to entering Gaza, of course, do not replace access without obstacles to needy civilians,” he insisted, remembering that the UN had a plan to provide large -scale help in the Palestinian territory. The organization had explained last week with trucks loaded with 171,000 tons of food hoping to enter.

“160,000 United Nations Aid and humanitarian partners (around 8,900 trucks)” are ready to enter Gaza, according to a press release dating from the UN Friday.

For his part, Israel announced that he would facilitate “in the next few days”, “the entry of dozens of help trucks” with baby food to avoid “a famine in” the enclave.

To supervise the entry of this aid, Washington announced that a new “base” would be responsible for supervising the distribution of aid in the Palestinian territory. The United States has also said that Israel would not participate in its food aid distribution plan.

UN spokesman, Stéphane Durric, transmitted by the WorldHe said Monday that “the aid” on the side of Gaza was not recovered due to dusk in the Palestinian enclave and the “security conditions.”

• Two months of hungry and locking

Food, drinking water, fuel medications … Since March 2, a single entry of food aid has not arrived to Gaza, causing serious situations of malnutrition and famine in the enclave devastated for a year and a half of war.

According to a UNICEF report published on May 12, 71,000 children and more than 17,000 mothers will need urgent attention against acute malnutrition, especially due to humanitarian blockade.

Many associations have insurgents of the situation. Starting with Human Rights Watch, who accused Israel last Thursday of having made a block in the Gaza Strip “an extermination tool.”

“The Israeli government plan to demolish what remains of Gaza’s civil infrastructure and concentrate the Palestinian population in a small area would constitute an abject escalation of its crimes against current humanity, its ethnic cleaning and its acts of genocide,” the association also stressed.

“Around 13,000 children’s clothing kits are waiting to enter Gaza,” said a UN press release.

For doctors without bordersIt is a “eradication of the Palestinians”, through “an absolutely massive crisis whose conditions have been implemented by Israel.”

The Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, which killed at least 1,200 people, caused these Israeli reprisals, which left at least 52,787 dead in Gaza, mostly civilians, according to data from the Ministry of Health of Hamas, considered reliable by the UN.

• Leaders are outraged in Netyahu’s acts

Before a limited help of food distribution, twenty -two countries, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and Australia, demanded from Israel a “complete resumption of help to the Gaza Strip, immediately”, asking that the United Nations Nations and NGOs organize it.

They consider “completely insufficient” the announcement of the access granted to “a minimum amount of food” and asks “the Israeli government to stop their military operations in Gaza and immediately authorize the entry of humanitarian aid.”

Keir Starmer, Mark Carny and Emmanuel Macron also condemned “the hateful language recently used by members of the Israeli government and the agitated threat of a forced displacement of civilians confronted with the desperate destruction of Gaza.”

The 22 countries also threaten “specific measures” if Israel does not end the “locations that are illegal and compromise the viability of a Palestinian state.”

The same history for humanitarian organizations that “cannot support” the new model for the delivery of assistance to this Palestinian territory decided by the Israeli government, wrote the diplomatic services of these countries in a joint statement sent by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Again this Monday, 91 people in Gaza were killed in Israeli strikes according to civil defense.
