The nationalist candidate George Simion, defeated this Sunday in the second round of the presidential elections in Romania, announced on Tuesday, May 20, his intention to present an appeal to obtain the cancellation of the elections owed “of external interference”, in particular of France.
“I officially ask the Constitutional Court to cancel the elections,” he wrote in the social network X. “For the same reasons” that had caused the cancellation of the November vote: “External ingredients,” he added, in a message accompanied by the flags of France and Moldova.
The election already canceled for suspicions of Russian interference
Last November, the Romanian presidential elections were already canceled by suspicions of Russian interference, after the surprise of the candidate by far Calin Georgescu in the first round. The latter, excluded from the elections, had been replaced by George Simion.
