“Every day is one more hell”: the parents of a French imprisoned in Malaysia Challenge Emmanuel Macron

18 months of deep concern. Tom Felix’s parents, a 34 -year -old Frenchman jailed in Malaysia, hope to “challenge Emmanuel Macron in a great way during his diplomatic tour in Asia to free his son.

This former executive of the Véolia group, about to open a restaurant in Malaysia, was arrested in August 2023 for drug detention and trafficking, accusations that dispute. In the house where he was received by his Malaysia partner, the police had found several hundred cannabis grams in the common areas. His family ensures that during the investigation, Tom was “exonerated” by his partner.

“37 prisoners by cell”

Despite the contacts between the French family and diplomatic services, including Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barot, “Tom’s Arche does not advance”, deplores his mother Sylvie Félix in BFMTV.

The postponed trial?

After a year and a half of detention, Tom Felix’s parents describe a young “used and tired.” “It feels crushed by this justice of Malaysia,” they explain.

His trial is scheduled for June 16 at the High Criminal Court of Setar, where he faces “the death penalty, or 104 years of accumulated detention, 54 sticks and a fine of 27,000 euros.” But the audience could be “retreated several months,” according to their parents.

Emmanuel Macron will go to Singapore on Friday to participate in the Shangri-la dialogue, an annual security and defense summit.
