“A threatening initiative”: North Korea considers Donald Trump’s antimisible project “very dangerous”

North Korea has deplored the Washington project to build an antimile shield to protect the US territory, believing that it is a “threatening initiative.”

North Korea believes that the antimisible shield project called “Dome of Gold” by US President Donald Trump is a “very dangerous” threat that aims to militarize the space, informed this Tuesday, May 27, the state media of Pyongyang.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry has published a memorandum “to tell the international community that the implementation of the United States of a new antimile defense system is a very dangerous and threatening initiative aimed at threatening the strategic security of nuclear weapons,” according to the official KCNA agency.

Moscow and Beijing also opposed the project

On May 20, Donald Trump announced the construction of an antimile shield for the United States, in the model of “Israeli Iron Dome”. An initiative that will be operational at the end of its mandate according to the US president, at a total cost of “around 175 billion dollars.”

How should Donald Trump’s “gold dome” work?

“It is a generational investment in the security of the United States and Americans,” the US president said when presenting the system at the White House.

According to Donald Trump, “once completely built”, this device will be “capable of intercepting missiles even if they have been launched for other parts of the world.”

The Secretary of State of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said that this “golden dome” will protect the US territory from any attack of “ballistic, ballistic or hypersonic missile, and drones, whether conventional or nuclear”, but few technical details have been revealed at the moment. Some experts have already indicated exorbitant costs, doubting that Washington has the means to establish such a shield.

North Korea is not the first country to react to this American project. Beijing considered that this initiative “undermines the strategic balance and global stability”, urging Washington “to abandon the development and deployment of a global antimile defense system” as quickly as possible. For his part, Moscow sees it as a plan “comparable to the Star War”, supported by Ronald Reagan during the Cold War.
