A man was killed and another was injured by a garbage truck when the garbage container in which they were sleeping was emptied this Thursday, May 29, reports NBC News.
Police say that the two men were in a garbage container in a command store in Long Island. It was when the truck stopped in a Kings Park College, about 10 km further, that someone saw a person in the back of the truck.
Police said the injured man had been evacuated and taken to the Huntington hospital to be treated by a leg injury. “He managed to climb to get out of there, I would like to be able to tell you how,” said the deputy director of local firefighters in ABC.
The other man was declared dead on the spot.
The incident occurred near a school
The foreign doctor’s office would determine the cause of death, police said. But according to her, it is unlikely that the man has already died before being thrown into the truck. He could not identify the two men.
The officials of the Kings Park school establishment warned the parents to assure them that the emergency intervention in the university was “absolutely not linked” to school. Nothing threatened students or staff and courses took place as usual.
