Patricia Krenwinkel, member of the “family” of Charles Manson convicted of several murders in 1971, could be released

Patricia Krenwinkel had been sentenced to death, then to life imprisonment, after the murders perpetrated by Charles Manson’s “family” in 1969 in Los Angeles.

In 1971, Patricia Krenwinkel had been convicted of seven positions, including murders and conspiracy, and sentenced to death for several murders perpetrated on behalf of the Charles Manson sect in 1969.

Life imprisonment

Like other members of the sect, Patricia Krenwinkel was sentenced to death, before seeing her sentence transformed into life imprisonment after the abolition of the capital sanction in the state in 1972. Charles Manson died in prison in 2017 and Leslie Van Houten, another member of her “family”, was released in 2023.

Patricia Krenwinkel could benefit from the same trial. The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, must soon reveal his decision to issue, or not, his freedom for the detainee, against the Council of certain families of victims, opposed to his release.
