Bridges collected in Russia: researchers point out “explosions” and denounce “terrorism acts”

Two bridges collapsed on Saturday night to Sunday, June 1 in southwest Russia, near the Ukrainian border, causing the trains to be deranged, one of which left at least seven dead and 66 injured, according to the authorities.

Two rail bridges collapsed in Russia. In the Briansk region, at least seven people died in the collapse of a bridge on a railway tonight on Saturday, May 31. Shortly after, at night, it was a bridge in the Koursk region that collapsed when a locomotive passed over.

The locomotive “fell on the road under the bridge” and “Ferigó,” said the interim governor of the Koursk region, Alexandre Khinshtein. The drivers of the locomotive, whose number did not specify, were injured and taken to the hospital, he added.

Russian researchers said in press releases that these two events were caused by “explosions.”

Russia is investigating “terrorism acts”

After the Britak incident, the Russia National Railway Company had spoken for the first time an “illegal interference”, without making a direct link with the conflict in Ukraine.

In fact, the collapsed bridge is about one hundred kilometers from Ukraine. The Koursk region, where the second collapse took place, also borders Ukraine. kyiv’s forces had seized for a while there for 1,400 km in a Square after a surprise assault in August 2024, before they resumed in April.

Russian state media finally said that investigators treated as “acts of terrorism” the collapse of the two bridges. “These actions have been classified as acts of terrorism,” said Svetlana Petrenko, spokesman for the Russian Research Committee, cited by the RIA Press Agency.

Border regions in Ukraine

Kremlin spokesman said Vladimir Putin was closely following the situation. If there was no official reaction, the president of the Constitutional Legislation Committee, also near the Russian President, said that “the accident in a traveler train in the British region is testifying the terrorist nature of the kyiv regime.”

“The answer must be the creation of a large cushioning zone,” said Andrei Kishas.

The cases of sabotage of Russian railways occurred in areas near Ukraine. At the beginning of April, the courts of the Volgograd (southwest) region, a non -border of Ukraine but still relatively close, reported the sentence of a 23 -year -old, who were guilty of burning the railway infrastructure. He had recognized the facts, qualified as a Pro-Ukraine law.

In the neighboring region of Saratov (southwest), two 24 -year -old men received sentences of 14 and 12 years in prison in a similar case. Most attacks of this type are made by young individuals, sometimes lower.

Ukraine generally does not comment on sabotage in the Russian territory. But it may happen that he accompanies him, considering that these are legitimate responses to Russia’s offensives against his own rail network.
