Contaminated cannabis candillas: Haribo ensures that no drug trace has been detected during its production

Sweet packages have been the subject of a retirement in the Netherlands, after cannabis was discovered in certain lots, making several patients. The tests were carried out in the lot in question.

Where do the drug traces detected in sweet packages in the Netherlands come from? The spokesman of its manufacturer Haribo assures on Friday, June 6 “that no irregularity was observed in our production processes” of the sweets, reports the Belgian news agency, after Sachets of Candy has been found contaminated with cannabis, which makes several sick people in the Netherlands.

According to the spokesman, a laboratory conducted independent tests. “During the survey, stored production samples of the potentially worried lot were tested, as well as raw materials and products already marketed in the Netherlands,” he said.

These tests allowed to establish the absence of contamination of the cannabis of the potentially contaminated lot. “Our internal surveys also confirm that irregularity has not been observed in our production processes,” he said.

At the moment, the pollution of cannabis sweets remains undetermined. “We are working closely with the authorities to determine if there is another explanation for these reports,” said the Haribo spokesman.

The latter ensures that nothing indicates according to local authorities that pollution has not happened in the areas of sweets production.

Three worried sachets

Haribo continued on Thursday, June 5 to withdraw the sweets of his brand “Happy Cola Fizz” in the Netherlands after the discovery of cannabis in certain packages. Several people became ill, including a child for a time in a coma.

Only three sweet sachets were concerned, according to the Dutch authority for food security and consumer products (NVWA), but a general range of the range had been thrown as caution.

“The bags containing sweets can cause undesirable effects, such as dizziness, during their ingestion,” NVWA warned about the lot, whose expiration date was January 2026. “You can consume other products in a safe way,” says the company.
