Italy: a town in Puglia will donate 30,000 euros for the purchase of an abandoned house

Given the drop in its population in recent years, Presicce offers 30,000 euros to anyone who buys an abandoned house in the small Italian town in southern Puglia.

Thus, CNN reports that the municipality, where about 10,000 inhabitants live, has indicated that it is willing to offer $30,000 to anyone who buys an abandoned house to settle there.

“Many houses are empty in the center of the city that was built before 1991 and we would like to see it come back to life with new residents,” explains Alfredo Palese, a councilor for the American chain, who affirms that the price of housing is beginning to drop. 500 euros per square meter in Preciscce.

Tax benefits and installation bonuses

The Preciscce town hall explains, therefore, that a part of the financing will be used “to buy an old house in the center of the city”, while the other will allow it to “update it”.

In addition, the municipal services have established tax benefits and bonuses for new businesses or even families with children that establish themselves there.

This city, located 15 km from the southern coast of Italy, was built by monks in the Middle Ages and is often called the “City of Green Gold”, due to the olive groves that grow there. It is full of historic buildings, underground passages, old crypts and other medieval oil mills.
