Democratic senator Alex Padilla was expelled by force from a press conference by internal security minister Kristi Noem, at the FBI headquarters in Los Angeles, this Thursday, June 12, reports CNN.
Alex Padilla spoke at this conference and tried to ask Kristi Noem questions. He was held by security agents and expelled from the room.
According to NBC Los Angeles, he said in the room: “I am Senator Alex Padilla and I have questions to ask the Minister.”
Manifestations in Los Angeles
This altercation occurs when the city of Los Angeles is in control of manifestations of magnitude to protest against Donald Trump’s migration policy.
Senator Alex Padilla had already expressed his disagreement with the presidential administration. “If Donald Trump manages to deploy the National Guard and the Marines in Los Angeles without clear authorization or justification, he will not stop there. It is not just an attack against Los Angeles, it is a proof of using the army against any American city to choose,” he wrote on X on Tuesday.
Since last Friday, the second largest American city has been the scenario of sporadic clashes, sometimes violent, protesters who denounce the raids of the Federal Immigration Police (ICE) against illegal immigrants to the police with riot clothing.
During his press conference, Kristi Noem spoke in particular in these events. “We will not leave (…). We are going to free the city from its heavy leaders, mayor and governor,” he said before the expulsion of Alex Padilla, reports NBC Los Angeles.
About 700 armed, an elite agency should be deployed there on Wednesday, joining 4,000 reserves of the National Guard already mobilized by the US president, to disgust from local authorities that cry out for an “abuse of power.”
