A Mexican citizen died in indefinite circumstances within a center for the detention of the Federal Immigration Police (ICE), said on Thursday, June 12.
This death occurs while several US states take place, mainly in California, demonstrations against the wave of arrests and expulsions of foreigners in an irregular situation launched by the administration of President Donald Trump.
Arrested in the state of Georgia
The man died on June 7 in a center of Stewart, in the state of Georgia, where he was arrested after his transfer of another prison, according to a statement published Thursday by the Mexican Ministry.
The US authorities informed the Mexican consulate in the capital of Georgia, Atlanta, of death. “Consular staff has established communication with local authorities and ice, as well as with family members” of the deceased to “clarify the facts, confirm the official cause of death and provide legal advice and family support,” the ministry said.
