A few weeks after his mother’s death, two British girls lost their father who had gone to India to disperse his wife’s ashes. He was aboard the Boeing 787 of Air India, which crashed last Thursday in Ahmedabad in the northwest of the country.
Arjun Patoliya returned home to find his daughters, 4 and 8 years old, when the drama occurred. His wife, Bharti, had died a few weeks before.
“The husband went to practice the rituals in India and on the return, he was on the plane. He left two small girls who are now orphaned,” said Anjana Patel, mayor of the Harrow district in London, during a multi -confessional vigil in tribute to the victims of the most deadly aerial disaster in the world since 2014.
“I really hope everyone takes care of these girls”
In total, 279 people, including passengers, crew members and people on the ground, died when Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to London airport in Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off. Among the victims, there are 52 British.
“I really hope everyone takes care of these girls,” said Anjana Patel. “We have no words to describe what families and friends should feel, so what we can do is pray them,” he said.
The British of Indian origin Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, is the only survivor of the accident among the occupants of the Boeing.
