A “strategic error”
While speculation increased an active American participation in the unprecedented air offensive of Israel, the White House reiterated that US forces remained “in a defensive position” in the Middle East.

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, warned that wanting to overthrow the Iranian regime by force would be a “strategic error.”

The bilateral meeting with Zelensky canceled
This joint press release could be the only statement of the heads of state and government in the “Group of 7” (Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, France, Italy and Japan) because with the departure of Donald Trump the summit falls short.
This means in particular that the bilateral meeting planned with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not take place. And Europeans barely had time to convince him to harden the sanctions to Russian oil.
The president, who praises his privileged relationship with each occasion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, did not hide his skepticism in any case against possible new measures against Moscow.
“The sanctions are not so simple,” he said, emphasizing that any new measure would have a “colossal” cost also to the United States.
