France has decided to mobilize A400M military planes to transport French citizens “who wish from Ben -Gurion in Israel to Cyprus,” French ministries of Foreign Affairs and Armies announced Sunday night.
These flights, which can embark one hundred people, will be carried out “subject to Israeli authorization” and will be added to rented civil flights from Amman, they said.
This decision was made during the National Defense and Security Council (CDSN), which was held on Sunday at the Elysée Palace, at the request of President Emmanuel Macron.
250,000 French nationals in Israel
Israel launched a massive air attack against Iran on June 13, aimed at its nuclear program, which caused an Iranian response. The United States bombed three neurongic sites in the Iranian nuclear program on Sunday.
After the American attacks, the IRNA news agency reported 40 Israel missiles from Iran, pointing to Ben Gurion airport, near Tel Aviv and a “biological research center.”
Questioned by AFP, the Ministry of the Armed Forces indicated that the number of flights would be adjusted “according to the needs.” France has 250,000 nationals in Israel, including 100,000 registered in consular lists.
The teams of the Crisis and Support Center (CDC) of the Quai d’Orsay responded to more than 4,500 calls in a week.
“Other flights will continue”
At the same time, on Sunday, 160 French nationals, “mainly in emergency and vulnerability”, accompanied by a CDC doctor, arrived at Paris airport after their repatriation from Israel through Jordan.
“160 French returned this night from Israel tonight. Two other flights to come, and from tomorrow, our military aircraft will be committed,” wrote Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barot, who received them.
“Other flights will follow, in addition to direct or indirect commercial connections of Amman (Jordan) and charm Cheikh (Egypt),” said the dock.
On Monday, Royal Jordan will establish an additional commercial flight of Amman at the request of France, will allow the return of 150 French nationals.
On Tuesday, another flight chartered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will allow more than 150 nationals in vulnerability to return to France.
