A 37 -year -old man was sentenced this Friday, June 27 by British justice to life on Friday, June 27 for having killed a teenager to the University in April 2024, a murder that had horrified the country.
In a true unleashed of violence, Marcus Arduini Monzo had attacked with a Japanese sword Daniel Anjorin, 14, who was walking towards his establishment, headphones in the ears, in the district of Hainault in eastern London.
He also attacked several other people, injuring two police in particular, in this raid that lasted about twenty minutes.
Court before the Criminal Court of Old Bailey in London, Marcus Arduini Monzo was convicted of murder on Wednesday, three attempts to kill and have serious injuries to two other people.
This Friday, Judge Joel Bennathan pronounced against him a life sentence, with a minimum of almost 39 years. With the time that has already passed in arrest, Marcus Monzo will remain in prison for at least 40 years, he said.
He stressed that the murderer was in a “clearly psychotic” state at the time of the attack, due in part to a long cannabis consumption, but that this cannot clarify it with its responsibility.
“You knew that it made you paranoid, or at least caused you to panic,” the judge insisted.
“The worst nightmare of our life” for the victim’s parents
On April 3, 2024, shortly before 7 am, Marcus Arduini Monzo, of the Spanish and Brazilian nationalities, had first hit a pedestrian with his truck, then hit him on the neck with his Japanese sword.
Then he returned at the wheel, then stopped in a street where he had attacked Daniel Anjorin.
He had also hit his weapon, a police woman who chased him, then had appeared in a house, assaulting a sleeping couple. The tears of the girl’s daughter had made him flee, but then attacked another police officer, before being finally unarmed.
Speaking this Friday for the first time publicly, the father of the university student, Ebenezer Anjorini, described the “pain” felt by the young man’s family.
“It was the worst nightmare of our life. Having to endure the pain of loss of a child in such a cruel and wild way. No family should have to experience this,” he added.
