A Canadian dies during his detention by American immigration services, Ottawa requests “information”

Johnny Noviello, a 49 -year -old Canadian citizen, died during his arrest for ICE, American immigration services. Canadian authorities “seek more information.”

It is the eighth person who died in 2025 under ice custody. Johnny Noviello, a 49 -year -old Canadian citizen, was found lifeless on June 23 at the Miami American Immigration Detention Center, as reported by USA Today News.

According to US authorities, medical teams tried to relive the forties, but Miami firefighters observed their death. The ice opened an investigation to determine the causes of his death.

“Canadian consular authorities are looking for more information on more information from US authorities,” said Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, in a message posted in X.

“I present my sincere condolences to the family. To respect the privacy of the family, additional details will not be provided at the moment,” he added.

A year in prison

According to US media, Johnny Noviello had received a legal resident status in the United States in 1991. In 2023, he was convicted of drug extortion and trafficking and sentenced to a one -year prison sentence.

On May 15, the Canadian was arrested by ice in a probation office and had to be expelled due to this conviction.

“ICE undertakes to ensure that all people placed under their care reside in safe, safe and human environments,” the agency said. “Complete medical attention is provided as soon as people arrive and for the duration of their stay,” he added.

The fight against illegal immigration, Trump’s priority
