England: two police officers dismissed for serious misconduct after a naked excavation in a 15 -year -old teenager

In 2020, the Police submitted a 15 -year -old teenager to naked after the cannabis was wrongly suspected.

Two London police were fired for serious misconduct after having imposed a complete excavation to a 15 -year -old teenager at his school, decided on Thursday, June 26, the Disciplinary Commission of the London Police Service.

The case, which dates back to 2020, had caused an animated stir in the United Kingdom, reports The Guardian. Hundreds of people had gathered in the Hackney district, known for their multicultural population, to show their support for the victim.

In December 2020, while Child Q. is about to take an exam, the educational staff suspects a smell of cannabis in the adolescent. It led to nursing, the black girl suffered a naked excavation by two police officers, without the presence of a third partial adult and while she has her period. No drug trace is found.

“I can’t spend a single day without wanting to shout, howl cry or just leave. I don’t know if I will feel normal again, but I know that anyone should never happen,” said the victim in a statement provided by her lawyer.

The disciplinary hearing judged that the excavation was “disproportionate, inappropriate and useless”, causing serious consequences on the adolescent who felt degraded and humiliated. However, the president of the Commission considered that there had been no discriminatory treatment related to the color of the teenager’s skin.

Black children, four times more wanted than others

The two police officers who authorized the excavation, a man and a woman, committed a serious failure, concluded the disciplinary audience. They were fired without warning. Another policeman, who raised the excavation with his colleague, was sanctioned with a warning for professional misconduct.

“In the heart of this matter there was a child, in a position of vulnerability, that the agents did not protect and that had unreasonably submitted to a naked excavation,” deplored the police director, the IAPC, Amanda Rowe.

“We know that this incident had a significant and lasting impact on their well -being,” he lamented.

The victim’s family expects this matter to mark a turning point in the way the police treat black children. “The statistics repeatedly show that the black Londoners are disproportionately attacked by the police,” said Carolynnnnnn Gallwey, lawyer of Child Q.

Even last summer, the British childhood commissioner warned about the full excavations made by the police about minors, often considering them “useless.” They go to black children four times more than the rest of the population, he also said. However, the number of excavations fell (-42 % in 2022 compared to 2020), especially in London, emphasized the commissioner.
