This commander is part of a group of soldiers attacked on Friday to Saturday after the opposite settlers who went to the Kaf Malek Palestinian village, where the settlers killed three Palestinians on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian authority.

Retaliation

After the violence of the night from Friday to Saturday, six Israeli civilians were arrested. It was in retaliation for these arrests, according to the media, that the settlers gathered again on Sunday night to Monday.

“Doctors of Israeli civilians have gathered (…) some attack security forces, sprinkling them with tear gas and vandalizing military vehicles,” said the army in a statement.

“The army, the police and the border guards intervened to disperse the regrouping,” added the text, added that an Israeli citizen had been injured.

A few hours later, the army said that “Israeli civilians caught fire and destroyed a security site that contains systems that help frustrate terrorist attacks in the area of ​​the Binyamin Regional Brigade.”

“Severely punished”

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has “firmly condemned any violence” against the army and security forces and added that “criminals must be seriously punished.”

The Minister of Finance of the Farm, Betsalel Smotrich, favorable to the colonization and annexation of the West Bank, condemned “violence against Israeli police and police (…), as well as the degradation of the goods”, believing that a “red line” had crossed. He asked the police to “translate those responsible in court.”

Several Human Rights NGO denounce the increase in violence committed by settlers in the West Bank and the impunity from which they benefit. Violence has shot in this Palestinian territory, occupied by Israel since 1967, since the beginning of the war in Gaza, caused by the attack on the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023.

About three million Palestinians live in the West Bank along with almost half a million Israelis installed in colonies considered illegal by international law.
