“They saw him charge at full speed”: two tourists killed by an elephant during a Zambia safari

The two tourists carried out a safari on foot in a national park when they were attacked by an elephant, despite the shots of the guides.

The tourist walk became drama. Two sixty -year -old tourists were killed by an elephant in Zambia this Thursday, July 3, when they were doing a safari on foot at the National Park in Southern Luangwa, says Associated Press, based on the information of the Local Police.

Easton Janet Taylor, a 68 -year -old British tourist, and Alison Jean Taylor, one year older in New Zealand, were attacked by an elephant who was with his little one. In fact, these females are very protective towards their young and can be aggressive when they perceive a threat, specifies AP.

“They saw him charge at full speed”

Accompanied by a guide, the two tourists, who were sisters according to the New Zealand Herald, I have seen “an elephant and his little one in the distance and revolved around 50 meters. But a few minutes later, the guide saw that the elephant charged them,” said the police commissioner in a press release, cited by The Independent.

“He shouted ‘Elephant’. Touring, they saw him charge at full speed,” the police added.

The guide shot several shots to try to prevent the elephant from attacking. He was well injured, but he still reached the two women who died instantly.

This is not the first time that tourists have been killed by elephants in Zambia. Last year, two Americans were fatally attacked in two separate accidents while they were in Safari vehicles.
